Destasher is an online platform provider/intermediary that enables sewists and yarn crafters in the UK only to give away, receive, buy, and sell leftover craft materials and supplies. Our aim is to support creativity, sustainability, affordability, and community.

These Terms & Conditions tell you the terms of use on which you may make use of our platform, whether as a guest or a registered user.

1. About Destasher

Destasher is owned and operated by Destash Ltd, a registered company based at 5 Brayton Square, London, E1 0SG, United Kingdom. Reg #16416381. We provide an online platform where users can offer items for free, request free items, sell craft-related items, and purchase craft-related items from other users.

The term ‘Destasher’ (or ‘us’ or ‘we’) refers to the owner of the online platform (the ‘platform’). The term ‘you’ refers to the user or viewer of our platform.

2. Eligibility

To use Destasher, you must be at least 18 years old, legally capable of entering into contracts, and provide accurate and up-to-date information when registering.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your account details secure. You must not share your account or impersonate others. Accounts may be suspended or closed if these Terms are breached.

Financial transactions on this platform are processed via Stripe software. When you take part in such a transaction on this platform, you are also bound by Stripe’s Terms & Conditions.

4. Transaction Mechanics

To complete transactions on the site, you’ll be asked to go through a Stripe verification. This is to satisfy regulatory requirements and confirm the identity of our account holders.

Giving/Grabbing

For an item going for free, users can message each other directly on the platform. No payments are collected by the platform for these listings.

Selling/Buying

Buyers:

  • Purchase an item and pay through the marketplace.
  • Wait for the seller to ship and mark the order as delivered within 7 days.
  • Confirm you’ve received the item on your order page. You’ll get a reminder to do this on the 12th day after your order was sent.
  • If you don’t confirm that you have received your item within 14 days, the system will do it automatically.

Sellers:

  • Get notified of a new purchase.
  • Ship the item within 7 days, then mark the order as delivered in your transaction page. Do keep proof (e.g., receipt from the post office).
  • Wait for the buyer to confirm receipt. If the buyer doesn’t confirm within 14 days, the system will do it automatically.
  • Once confirmed, payment is released to you.
  • Both sides can leave reviews after the transaction is completed.

We are not responsible for the quality, legality, or delivery of user-listed items (subject to non-excludable legal duties under CRA 2-15 and ECRs 20-002). Neither we nor any third parties provide any guarantee as to the accuracy, timeliness, performance, suitability of information found or offered on this platform.

5. Seller/Giver Responsibilities

Sellers/Givers must accurately describe items, have rights to list them, send items within 7 days, and communicate respectfully. Sellers are responsible for quoting and organising shipment of their items.

6. Buyer/Taker Responsibilities

Buyers/Takers must read listings carefully. payments from Buyers include shipping costs as quoted by Sellers, and they must confirm receipt promptly when received, and communicate respectfully. takers (users who want to grab an item for free) may communicate with Givers via messaging on-platform only with text (no file attachments). No payments are collected by platforms for these listings. We remind users to be thoughtful about what personal information they share in messages.

7. Prohibited Items

The following must not be listed:

  • Illegal items
  • Counterfeit goods
  • Weapons
  • Hazardous materials
  • Recalled or unsafe products
  • Medical items
  • Food or drink
  • Live animals
  • Items infringing intellectual property
  • Hateful or explicit materials, and anything unsafe or inappropriate for the community.

8. Fees

Destasher is just starting so we’re keeping our commission low:

  • Using our platform is free for Sellers, Givers, and those grabbing something free.
  • During these early months, we charge Buyers just a 3% transaction fee to cover processing costs — much lower than typical marketplaces charging between 5% and 15%. Fees will evolve as the platform and its offer grow.
  • We’ll always be transparent about fee changes so everyone knows what they’re paying and why.

9. Content Accuracy

You acknowledge that information and materials on our platform may contain inaccuracies or errors and we expressly exclude liability for any such inaccuracies or errors to the fullest extent permitted by law. Your use of any information or materials on this platform is at your own risk. From time to time this platform may also include links to other websites. These links are provided for your convenience to provide further information. They do not signify that we endorse the website(s). We have no responsibility for the content of the linked website(s). Your use of this platform and any dispute arising out of such use of the platform is subject to the laws of England and Wales.

10. Content Standards

You must treat others with respect and kindness. Harassment, discrimination, abuse, scams, or spam are not tolerated. These content standards apply to any and all material which you contribute to our site (contributions), and to any interactive services associated with it. You must comply with the spirit and the letter of the following standards. The standards apply to each part of any contribution as well as to its whole.

Contributions must:

  • Be accurate (where they state facts)
  • Be genuinely held (where they state opinions)
  • Comply with applicable law in the UK and in any country from which they are posted.

Contributions must not:

  • Contain any material which is defamatory of any person.
  • Contain any material which is obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory.
  • Promote sexually explicit material.
  • Promote violence.
  • Promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age.
  • Infringe any copyright, database right or trade mark of any other person.
  • Be likely to deceive any person.
  • Be made in breach of any legal duty owed to a third party, such as a contractual duty or a duty of confidence.
  • Promote any illegal activity.
  • Be threatening, abuse or invade another’s privacy, or cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety.
  • Be likely to harass, upset, embarrass, alarm or annoy any other person.
  • Be used to impersonate any person, or to misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person.
  • Give the impression that they emanate from us if this is not the case.
  • Advocate, promote or assist any unlawful act such as (by way of example only) copyright infringement or computer misuse. You are responsible for the safety of your items. We may remove prohibited/inappropriate listings and content without notice and suspend/terminate accounts.

11. Disputes

We aim to nurture a community of like-minded makers based on our core values: connection, inspiration, affordability, and sustainability. We want our users to be genuine, honest, and supportive of one another. destasher may assist but does not guarantee outcomes.

12. Suspension and Termination

We will determine, in our discretion, whether there has been a breach of these Terms and Conditions through your use of our site. When a breach of this policy has occurred, we may take such action as we deem appropriate.

Failure to comply with these Terms & Conditions constitutes a material breach of the terms of use upon which you are permitted to use our site, and may result in our taking all or any of the following actions:

  • Immediate, temporary or permanent withdrawal of your right to use our site.
  • Immediate, temporary or permanent removal of any posting or material uploaded by you to our site.
  • Issue of a warning to you.
  • Legal proceedings against you for reimbursement of all costs on an indemnity basis (including, but not limited to, reasonable administrative and legal costs) resulting from the breach.
  • Further legal action against you.
  • Disclosure of such information to law enforcement authorities as we reasonably feel is necessary.

We exclude liability for actions taken in response to breaches of these Terms & Conditions. The responses described in this policy are not limited, and we may take any other action we reasonably deem appropriate.

13. Intellectual Property

This platform contains material which is owned by or licensed to us. Reproduction is prohibited other than in accordance with the copyright notice, which forms part of these terms and conditions.

All trademarks reproduced on this platform that are not the property of, or licensed to the operator, are acknowledged on the platform. Unauthorised use of this platform may give rise to a claim for damages and/or be a criminal offence.

Users grant us a non-exclusive licence to host, display, and distribute their listings/photos to operate the service. Users confirm they own and control the rights to this content and that listings do not infringe third-party IP.

If we notice or receive notice of IP infringement or illegal content, we will issue a request to remove it within 24 hours. Failure to do this will result in us taking down the listing.

14. Liability

Destasher is provided “as is”. We are not responsible for user-listed items except where required by UK law. Nothing limits statutory consumer rights.

15. Privacy

Personal data is handled in line with our Privacy Policy and in accordance with Data Protection Act 2018/UK GDPR.

16. Changes

These Terms may be updated occasionally. Continued use means acceptance of updates.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
