Sustainability Policy
Thoughtful making, lasting impact.
At Destasher, sustainability is one of our core values. We believe leftover fabric, yarn, tools, and supplies deserve a second (or third!) life.
By helping sewists and yarn crafters buy, sell, give, and grab preloved materials, we aim to make crafting more affordable while reducing landfill waste.
What we commit to:
1. Extending the life of craft materials
Our platform is designed to encourage reuse, sharing, and redistribution of sewing and yarn supplies. Every item re-used is one less item wasted.
2. Supporting a circular craft economy
We champion peer-to-peer exchange over buying new wherever possible, helping reduce overproduction and unnecessary consumption in the craft industry.
3. Encouraging responsible choices
We promote honest listings, accurate descriptions, and mindful buying so materials find the right homes and are used, not forgotten.
4. Ethical partners and suppliers
As we grow, we commit to working with partners, service providers, and suppliers who align with our values around fair treatment, transparency, and environmental responsibility.
5. Lower-impact operations
As we develop, we aim to keep our own footprint small by:
-
Regularly reviewing our tools and hosting to improve efficiency
-
Encourage the avoidance of any unnecessary packaging and waste
-
Committing to seek out more responsible ways to run our operations and support lower-impact shipping choices as we grow.
6. Community-led improvement
Sustainability is a journey. We listen to our community and welcome ideas on how we can do better, together.
7. Transparency
Destasher is not a perfect solution to crafting waste, and we don’t claim to be. We focus on progress over perfection and commit to being honest about where we are and where we’re headed.
